Cornwall Strategic Partnership IDeA Peer Review

During the Autumn of 2009, Cornwall Strategic Partnership conducted a peer review, with the help of the Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA). The peer review took the form of an exploration of the challenges and achievements of the partnership. It was particularly useful in demonstrating the progress of the newly constituted partnership arrangements and identifiying where improvements could be made.

A self assessment document was produced in advance of the peer challenge team arriving in Cornwall. This document is available to download opposite and was intended to provide the team with an overview of Cornwall and the added value of partnership working to date.

The peer review team comprised of senior officers and Members from other local authorities across the country, as well as from the Health sector. They spent several days during September 2009, meetiing, interviewing and assessing the views of key individuals from across the partnership world in Cornwall. On the basis of the wealth of information that the team evaluated, they were able to feed back specific areas where they felt Cornwall was doing well and other areas where improvements could be made.

A work programme to support the Cornwall Strategic Partnership has subsequently been created, based on the findings of the review, and this has provided a sharper focus for improvement for the whole partnership.
