Environment Kernow

Environment Kernow (EK) champions the importance of a quality environment to the present and future well-being and livelihood of the people of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Key Functions:

• A forum between the public, private and voluntary sectors within the County, with the purpose of addressing the interests, needs and economic opportunities for the area's environment, within the framework of sustainable development.

• A coordinated, strategic environmental response to emerging local, regional, national and international policies, proposals and activities that could impact upon the environment of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

• A strategic environmental information to support policy formulation and decision making within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly

• To act as the environmental sub-group of the Cornwall Strategic Partnership, providing an advisory and co-ordinating function in the assessment and delivery of projects.

• To fulfil the role of coordinating the sustainable communities theme within the Cornwall Local Area Agreement

• To identify knowledge and skills required for advancing the conservation and enhancement of Cornwall's environment
